About – The Life

I’m Doug Cockerill, a long time writer and WordPress publisher. I hope you find plenty to interest you here at The Life.

I have enjoyed reading and writing since I was young, and have completed writing courses at Mitchell College (now part of Charles Sturt University in NSW, Australia) and at AWAI (The American Writers and Artists Institute).

I’ve published content using the WordPress platform for over twenty years.

My professional writing experience includes working as an SEO copywriter and a ghostwriter for select clients. I wrote as Allan Cockerill professionally, but now use my first name, Doug, or Douglas Cockerill.

At The Life, my aim is to create a comfortable reading experience for visitors on a range of topics, not necessarily as an expert, but as a fellow traveller through life. I like to write articles that are genuinely useful.

My research efforts at the moment are based on Artificial Intelligence, and how it influences our lives, and whether it is a help or a hindrance. I suspect that it may be both, and my fear is that humanity will somehow forget how to think.
I make that statement while being transparent and saying that I do use AI for research and for checking code on the websites that I build.
